Zfolio was founded to

1

Promote the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) as the global standard for financed emission attribution, including the data quality score.

2

Improve the integrity of portfolio greenhouse gas emission calculations, and make emissions management more widely accessible and useful.

3

Help financial organisations more effectively allocate capital towards climate transition opportunities, and engage with the companies they finance.

Zfolio addresses a key gap in the capabilities of financial organizations. Managing financed emissions is not the same as a corporate GHG inventory – the calculations are specialized and complex, data is often unavailable or unreliable, and management requires an understanding of conventional and climate-related risks, opportunities and trade-offs. According to Bloomberg, global ESG assets may surpass $41 trillion by 2022 and $50 trillion by 2025. Organizations often have climate-related targets but do not have access to reliable, fast, transparent analysis of financed emissions.

Leadership

Dan Rissin

Dan has over 20 years of experience in financial technology and entrepreneurship and has recently completed an MSc in Climate Change Management and Finance at Imperial College London.

In 2007 Dan founded AlphaDesk, a very successful financial software company, providing trading, risk, accounting and operational tools to hedge funds and traditional asset managers globally. AlphaDesk was acquired by Refinitiv (now part of LSEG) in 2019.

Dan previously also founded TrueRisk, an early leader in enterprise risk management systems and derivative securities modelling.

Both these software businesses developed mission critical trading and risk management solutions that became market leaders internationally. Clients included major banks as well as investment managers and hundreds of smaller organizations, including for example, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, CalPERS, Royal Bank of Canada, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, BNP, Santander, MUFG Bank and National Australia Bank.

The products' success was achieved through Dan's ability to understand and anticipate industry requirements, translate those requirements into software and build great teams to support the software.

In addition to his MSc, Dan has an MBA from the University of Toronto, and a BSc Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
